Adam C. Reynolds, MD s a fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist and cataract surgeon who has practiced with Intermountain Eye Centers since 2006. His work centers on the diagnosis, monitoring, and long-term treatment of glaucoma, along with cataract surgery and general ophthalmology care for patients throughout Boise and the greater Treasure Valley.
Education, Residency, and Fellowship Training
Dr. Reynolds earned his medical degree from the University of Washington Medical School in 1996 and completed his residency in ophthalmology through the University of Washington in 1999. He then completed a glaucoma fellowship at the McGee Eye Institute in 2000 and was selected to serve there as an academic glaucoma specialist from 2000 through 2006. He was board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology in 2002 and is currently licensed in Idaho.
Glaucoma Diagnosis and Treatment
Glaucoma frequently progresses without early symptoms, so careful measurement and consistent follow-up matter a great deal. Dr. Reynolds specializes in advanced diagnostic testing for this disease, including intraocular pressure monitoring, optic nerve evaluation, visual field testing, and imaging that can reveal subtle change over time. Treatment may involve prescription eye drops, selective laser trabeculoplasty, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, or traditional surgical procedures, depending on how each eye responds and what the examination shows.
Cataract Surgery and General Ophthalmology
Dr. Adam Reynolds also provides comprehensive medical and surgical eye care, including cataract surgery with presbyopia-correcting and astigmatism-correcting lens technologies. Lens options are reviewed during the surgical evaluation and reflect each patient’s eye health, prescription, and visual goals. Patients managing cataracts alongside other eye conditions benefit from having both addressed within one coordinated plan of care.
Research and Professional Leadership
Research has been a steady thread throughout Dr. Reynolds’ career. He has published numerous articles and book chapters covering many aspects of glaucoma care and holds leadership positions within the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Glaucoma Society. His professional memberships include the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Glaucoma Society, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, and the American Eye Study Club.
Outside the Clinic
Away from the office, Dr. Reynolds and his wife, Tricia, enjoy spending time with their children, Nicole and Peter, skiing and river rafting around Idaho. The family also spends time at their vacation home on the northern Oregon Coast.
